Barcelona tampil dominan sejak awal laga dan sempat mencetak gol melalui Pedri pada menit ke-29. Namun, gol tersebut dianulir karena gelandang Barcelona sudah berada dalam posisi offside.
Raphinha kemudian memecah kebuntuan pada menit ke-37 untuk membawa Barcelona unggul hingga jeda. Blaugrana terus menekan setelah turun minum, tetapi baru mampu menambah gol pada menit ke-82 melalui Fermin Lopez.
Kemenangan tersebut membuat Barcelona mengumpulkan enam poin dari dua pertandingan. Perolehan poin mereka sama dengan Real Madrid, tetapi Blaugrana berhak berada di posisi pertama berkat keunggulan selisih gol.
Hasil ini membuat persaingan papan atas Liga Spanyol semakin ketat pada awal musim. Barcelona dan Real Madrid sama-sama masih sempurna, sementara persaingan untuk memperebutkan posisi teratas akan terus berubah seiring bergulirnya pertandingan berikutnya.
